More About Civil War Roundatble of Allegany County MD Upcoming May events
The Civil War Roundtable of Allegany County Maryland will have its May Meeting at 7 PM at the Lavale United Methodist Church 565 National Highway Lavale MD on Thursday, May 2nd. Our Speaker will be Dr Steve Goldman, Author of One More War To Fight, The transition of Civil War Veterans into Civilian life. He has given numerous talks and more information can be found at Click for Details On the Second he will be giving a talk on the Maryland Home Brigade and Col. Gilpin.
On Friday, May 3rd at 7 pm he will be returning with National Park Service Ranger Matt Borders for a presentation on Early's Campaign of the summer of 1864 specifically on the battle of Monocacy, (The Battle that saved Washington) and the impact of the B & O Railroad on the campaign.
These events are open to the public and are part of the CWRT's recognition of the 160th anniversary of the battle of Folck's Mill (The Battle that saved Cumberland from the fate of Chambersburg) and the pursuit of McCauslands Cavalry to Oldfields, WV.
There is no charge but donations are welcome at the door to the Friday event being held in the Sanctuary.
