More About National Boss Appreciation Day
National Boss Appreciation Day has occurred on October 16th every year since 1958. Patricia Bays Haroski registered this national holiday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to appreciate her father, who was also her boss. She was working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois for her father, at the time and chose October 16th, which was her father's birthday. She felt that young people didn’t fully appreciate or understand the work, worry, and effort in their boss’s day. Boss Appreciation Day was supposed to improve relationships and encourage transparency between leadership and the workforce.
