More About Downtown at Sundown
The 27th Downtown at Sundown Concert series kicks off this May. The concerts are free and open to the public. They will take place on Ryan Street in front of the Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center and the Parish Courthouse. During inclement weather, the concerts will be held at Central School Arts and Humanities Center, 809 Kirby Street.
On four consecutive Fridays from 6 pm-9 pm, the music takes center stage at the downtown merchant's parking lot on the corner of Ryan and Broad Streets, amid tabletop art galleries, activities for children, and food booths for downtown restaurants. Each concert features a different local or regional artist performing favorite music genres, including Swamp Pop, Cajun, Zydeco, and Classic Rock. This year's band lineup features a mix of established and up-and-coming artists that are sure to get the crowd dancing.
Chairs and blankets are welcome; however, pets, coolers, smoking/vaping, or outside alcohol will not be allowed on site.
Downtown at Sundown is presented by the City of Lake Charles and supported by corporate sponsorships from CITGO Petroleum, Entergy, Erdace Companies, Visit Lake Charles, Lake Charles Toyota, Fuerst, Carrier, and Ogden, First Horizon Bank, Stockwell Sievert Law Firm. All beverage sales will benefit the Literacy Council of SWLA. The proceeds allow the Literacy Council to offer extended summer services for adult education students.
