On August 28, 1963, approximately 250,000 people gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. This historic event was a turning point in the Civil Rights Movement, demanding an end to segregation, fair wages, voting rights, and long overdue civil rights protections
