Step into the spirit of spring with the Arts and Humanities Council at this year’s Spring Art Walk, happening Saturday, May 16, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on McNeese State University’s scenic campus. Enjoy a lively afternoon bursting with local art, vibrant performances, delicious food truck fare, and interactive experiences designed for all ages.
Explore & Experience Local Artistry
Wander through an open-air gallery of handmade goods crafted by talented local artists such as Maya Designs, Paint & Fire, A Touch of Color, Manipura Artisanal Soaps, and In Our Spare Time 3. Each booth offers something unique, perfect for browsing or finding that one-of-a-kind piece.
Be captivated by live performances throughout the afternoon—dancers, musicians, poets, and theater groups will be taking the stage to share their talents. A special treat awaits theater lovers with a sneak peek of Sulphur High School Theatre’s production of Beetlejuice, sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Take a stroll through the Sherman Fine Arts Annex Grand Gallery for an exclusive preview of the Talented Arts Show featuring remarkable student works from the Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB).
Outdoor Creativity in Motion: Lawnside Figure Drawing
Don’t miss Lawnside Figure Drawing, a relaxed, drop-in style session from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., held under the open sky. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket, your sketchbook, and your favorite art tools. Led by The Art Factory with free instruction, this session welcomes artists of all levels. In true community spirit, models will be crowd-sourced from the audience, inviting anyone to strike a pose and join the fun!

It’s art with a competitive twist! Watch as young artists (grades 6–12) and adults (18+) go head-to-head in a live mural showdown. This year’s electrifying theme: Dreams.
