
More About Annual Shanksville Community Picnic
Enjoy food, family fun, and free concerts at the annual Shanksville Community picnic, Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2 at the Community Grove, 1291 Cornerstone Road.
Food: The kitchen opens Friday at 4 PM with popcorn chicken, burgers, hot dogs, baked beans and other sides, fresh-cut French fries, ice cream, and cold drinks. On Saturday the kitchen opens at 11 am serving all of the above, plus barbecued chicken and pie by the slice.
Fun: Games open at 4PM Friday, and a parade steps off at 6 PM. Activities all weekend include a HUGE basket raffle, a gun raffle, and games of skill and chance. On Saturday, bounce your way into the 18-foot tall Xtreme Dance Party bounce house, pitch some horseshoes and bring your paddle for the Shanksville Paddle Battle pickle ball tournament. Registration for horseshoes begins at 9:30 AM and shoes fly at 11:00 AM. Cash prizes for horseshoe winners are sponsored by Stonycreek Builders Supply, Inc. Pickle ball warmup starts at 9:00 AM. To pre-register, text Sarah at 303.915.9484. Also, the kids can get up close to an ambulance or a fire truck. Around 2 PM, weather permitting, an Air National Guard Blackhawk helicopter will be landing at the Shanksville ball diamond.

Friday: Nationally-known tribute band Bon Journey playing the best of Bon Jovi and Journey, 7 to 9:30 pm
Saturday:
• Somerset County Community Band concert begins at noon
• local favorite Partners in Crime from 2 to 4 pm
• Headlining - Ridgemont High, 6:30 to 9 pm
