More About Le Courir de Mardi Gras
Le Courir de Mardi Gras at Vermilionville is a family-friendly celebration of the traditional Cajun Mardi Gras run. Dressed in colorful costumes and masks, participants—led by a “Capitaine”—parade through the historic village singing Cajun songs, playfully “begging” for ingredients to make a community gumbo. The event includes music, dancing, children’s crafts, and even a lively chicken chase, all showcasing Louisiana’s rich Cajun heritage. Vermilionville’s Courir offers visitors a fun, educational way to experience one of South Louisiana’s most unique and time-honored traditions.
