More About TODD DAY WAIT

On May 15, the road rolls straight through The Ideal Theater for a night of hard-earned songs and dust-trail storytelling.

Headlining the evening is Todd Day Wait, one of the last true American workhorse troubadours still grinding it out the old way. His music carries the bones of early folk, country, and blues from the 1920s through the 1960s, the same tradition shaped by legends like Jimmie Rodgers, Willie Nelson, Wynn Stewart, and Kris Kristofferson.

You may already know his voice from the millions of spins on GemsOnVHS and WesternAF, where dusty backroads and porch-rail sessions become instant classics. In 2009, Todd famously put everything he owned on the curb and hit the road in a diesel shuttle bus running on vegetable oil, chasing songs across continents. From busking in the streets of New Orleans to playing beneath the silhouettes of European castles to lighting up the honky-tonks of Nashville, Todd has lived the long-haul life of a modern troubadour ever since.

Opening the night is Clayton Brown, a rising talent from rural Iowa whose sound feels hewn straight from the soil. Brown represents the kind of raw, unpolished brilliance that grows in overlooked corners of the country, where long roads, quiet towns, and real life carve songs with a sharper edge. His performances are intimate, emotionally honest, and quietly magnetic, the kind that makes a room lean forward.

Show at 8PM | Doors at 7PM.
Advance tickets are recommended. A full house is expected, so save by buying early and secure your seat with a table reservation.
