More About Presentation by Noted Still Life Photographer Polina Plotnikova
Gateway Camera Club invites you to join us Tuesday, May 19th for Polina Plotnikova presentation of “Photographing Ball-Jointed Dolls”. Doors open at 7:00pm at St. Andrews Episcopal Church on 3 Maple Street, Framingham.
Back in 2019, with pandemic in full swing and all photographic horizons seemingly heavily overcast, Polina’s silver lining presented itself. She got the idea to try her hand at photographing Ball-Jointed Dolls. Already well experienced with still life photography, Polina dove right in, encountering many remarkable models: strikingly original, hugely inspiring, with lots of stories to tell.
“It’s an elaborate time-consuming process,” Polina said, “but I love every step of it.”
Everything in her images look so natural it’s hard to accept what you’re looking at is not a real person. It’s often the smallest of details that helps her achieve that - a tilt of a head, a drop of a shoulder, a fold of a dress, or a light shining through the hair.
Flowers and still life are her favorite photography subjects, along with capturing her impressions when travelling. Polina has earned an impressive list of photographic awards.
If still life photography inspires you, you’ll appreciate being there.
