More About Painting with Purpose: Bermano’s Charity Art Event in Greenwich Benefits Operation Smile

On Thursday, May 28, Greenwich Art + Design at 7 East Putnam Avenue is hosting something genuinely unusual: an evening where the ticket you buy pays for a child’s surgery.

Painting with Purpose runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is capped at 75 seats. Each $240 ticket funds one cleft lip or palate surgery through Operation Smile — 100% of proceeds go directly to the organization. No administrative carve-out. The math is direct: 75 guests, 75 children.

The format is hands-on. Guests paint alongside Joel Bermano himself, working in the gallery space in a guided, immersive session. The evening falls during Mental Health Awareness Month, which is not incidental — Bermano’s entire artistic identity is rooted in his own experience with mental health.
