More About 8th Annual PRIDE Flag Raising Ceremony and OUT on the Block Party on May 31

The City of Framingham will hold its 8th annual PRIDE Flag Raising Ceremony on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Memorial Building Plaza, celebrating the City’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, diversity, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

The 2 p.m. ceremony will feature keynote speaker Alford Green, director of the LGBT Asylum Task Force, an organization that supports LGBTQ asylum seekers through housing assistance and connections to legal, educational, medical, and mental health resources.

Reverend Debbie Clark of Edwards Church will serve as master of ceremonies.

Additional speakers will include Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, the City’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer Jesse Edwards, Library Trustees Chair Heather Klish, Lily Pearl, a representative from OUT MetroWest, and student speaker Raine Dabrush.

“Framingham is proud to celebrate PRIDE and reaffirm that our community is one where everyone is welcomed, respected, and valued,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. “This annual flag raising is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community and continue building a City rooted in inclusion, dignity, and equality.”

“PRIDE is more than a celebration. This flag raising ceremony is a reaffirmation that every person deserves to live openly, safely, and authentically,” said City Council Chair George King. “Framingham continues to grow stronger when we embrace and uplift the diversity of the people who call our community home.”

“We are grateful for the City’s continued partnership and commitment to uplifting LGBTQIA+ voices, said Mel Pace, Director of OUT MetroWest. “The PRIDE flag raising and OUT on the Block Party create spaces for celebration, connection, and community.”

Following the flag raising ceremony, OUT MetroWest will host its annual OUT on the Block Party from 3 to 6 p.m. at its headquarters, located at 160 Hollis Street in Framingham.

Parking is available at the Memorial Building parking lot, the Greater Framingham Community Church lot, and Republic Plumbing Supply lot in downtown Framingham.

The family-friendly community celebration will feature food trucks, entertainments, LGBTQIA+ vendors and resource booths, activities, the Framingham Public Library bookmobile, and more.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend both events in celebration of PRIDE Month and the LGBTQIA+ community in Framingham and across MetroWest.

The flag will be flying above the Memorial Building for the entire month of June. The Memorial Building will rotate a rainbow of colors at night in June, except for Flag Day weekend.
