More About Supertri Chicago Returns This August Following Record-Breaking 2025

Following a record-setting 2025 event that generated $17.5 million in economic impact, Supertri Chicago returns to downtown Chicago on August 22–23, 2026. Formerly known as the Chicago Triathlon, the weekend features multiple race distances for athletes of all levels, along with a dedicated kids triathlon. Registration for the 2026 event is already outpacing last year’s record-breaking levels.

Held annually in the heart of the city, Supertri Chicago has become a staple in Chicago’s summer sports calendar, bringing together first-time participants, experienced athletes, corporate teams, and elite competitors for a weekend of racing along one of the country’s most recognizable urban courses.

The 2025 event drew an estimated 35,000 attendees and more than 8,000 participants, with nearly half traveling from outside Chicago, reinforcing the event’s role as both a major athletic tradition and a meaningful economic driver for the city.

A key part of Supertri Chicago’s continued growth is its emphasis on making the sport more accessible for newcomers of all ages. One-third of 2025 participants were first-time triathletes, supported through Supertri’s free First Timers Program, which offers a beginner training plan, educational webinars, race preparation resources, and a dedicated online community throughout the training process. On race weekend, new athletes can also access beginner-friendly wave starts, a rack-together transition area, and on-site coaching support.

For participants without access to their own equipment, Supertri Chicago’s partnership with Divvy helps remove a key barrier by providing convenient bike-share options, expanding access for more Chicagoans who may not own a bike. Relay participation is also available, allowing teams to split the swim, bike, and run disciplines across multiple athletes and take part in the event without completing the full course individually.

Building on its commitment to community impact, Supertri’s Corporate Challenge returns this year with a goal of growing last year’s fundraising total, which raised more than $90,000 for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The team-based format brings companies together to race and fundraise in support of pediatric cancer and blood disorder research.
