More About Movies that Build Community: My Octopus Teacher, an Avon on Tour Program

Screening of the 2020 film My Octopus Teacher, part of the Avon on Tour: Movies That Build Community program of film screenings at the Ferguson Library while the Avon undergoes renovations. After years of swimming every day in the freezing ocean at the tip of Africa, Craig Foster meets an unlikely teacher: a young octopus who displays remarkable curiosity. Visiting her den and tracking her movements for months on end he eventually wins the animal’s trust and they develop a never-before-seen bond between human and wild animal. A reception for our Avon Scholarship Awards Essay Contest will be held before the screening at 5:30 pm. Teens and adults. Registration required here. Winfield Street Coffee is now open until 8 p.m. on Fridays. Stop by for a pre-show bite or drink before the film. Presented in partnership with the Avon Theatre.
