More About Juneteenth
Five local churches are working collaboratively to produce the town's Juneteenth observances on Friday, June 19. The engaging program of events includes live music from The Bernadettes, a commemoration ceremony and lots of activities for the little ones including a double dutch jump rope demonstration, crafts, storytelling, puppetry and more with artist Iyaba Ibo Mandingo. There will also be food trucks on hand for snacks, beverages and dinner. The festivities will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. A formal commemoration ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, events will move from the Town Green into First Church, 148 Beach Road, which is directly across the street from the town green.
