Get ready to walk! P.E.O. Chapters BS in Franklin and AQ in Greenwood are pleased to announce P.E.O.’s inaugural Walk Today for Women Tomorrow, to be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 1, 2026 at Otterbein SeniorLife in Franklin, IN. This exciting event supports the mission of P.E.O. to motivate, educate and celebrate women. Participation is free and open to all, but registration is requested by July 18 at Click for Details Official t-shirts to wear on the day of the walk are available for order at Click for Details with $5.00 of each shirt sale benefitting P.E.O. philanthropies that are focused on providing scholarships, grants, awards, and loans for women to pursue education. Place your t-shirt order asap so your shirt arrives before the walk.
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been motivating, educating and celebrating women for more than 156 years. Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 132,000* women pursue educational goals by providing approximately $486.5 million* in grants, scholarships, awards and loans. The Sisterhood is also the primary support for Cottey College, located in Nevada, MO.
Chapter BS has been a part of the Franklin community since it was organized in 1955, and Chapter AQ has been in Greenwood since 1946. Through these chapters, several Johnson County students have benefited from these grants and loans. A number of STAR Scholarships have been awarded to high school seniors entering college from local school systems. Support has also been provided for Johnson County women from the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund(ELF) and P.E.O.’s Program for Continuing Education (PCE).
Through membership, the P.E.O. Sisterhood has brought together more than half a million women in more than 5,400 chapters across the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education while supporting and motivating them. In addition to the educational philanthropies, the P.E.O. Sisterhood provides a framework of support and community for all members.
Otterbein SeniorLife in Franklin is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), located on 120 acres of park-like grounds, where mature trees, stocked ponds, and peaceful sidewalks for walking and riding create a welcoming environment. Residents maintain an active lifestyle while planning for future needs and preferences, and enjoy numerous amenities to suit a variety of interests, including pickleball courts, a heated indoor pool, a greenhouse, an art studio, a library, a wellness/fitness center, and much more. Staff and community volunteers work side-by-side to support each other in a caring and neighborly environment.
