We are calling on our local politicians!
+Protect our Northwest Indiana hometowns, critical watersheds, and agricultural lands from the massive, uncoordinated onslaught of Big Tech and utility industrialization.

+We are DEMANDING full cumulative review of their industrial infrastructure impact on our local and regional infrastructure.

+End the corporate welfare and fast-tracked deals for high-risk data centers and utility-scale battery storage facilities that threaten our local water security, prime agricultural land, and community safety.

+Parking: The City of Crown Point has free, all-day parking in a municipal lot along West Street; on the south side of Bulldog Park; and in the Wheeler Middle School parking lot adjacent to the south-side parking lot at Bulldog Park. +This is a peaceful and non-obstructive protest. This protest will be going on during the Taste of Crown Point, so please be mindful. Try and arrive early!

+Dress Code: For those inclined, please dress up in Lorax costumes. Whether it's the Lorax or the Once-ler, The more the merrier!
Otherwise, please wear Bright Orange (for the Lorax), or Green (for Agriculture). Let's have fun with this! Paint your face, wear all different types of accessories, use your creativity!

+When you arrive: Look for the Lorax. "We speak for the trees!"

Who are the Region Rats Against(RRA)?

We are a community of neighbors currently focused on taking actionable steps and spreading verifiable information to stop the South Lake County Data Center, the Sentinel Data Center.Though we are focused on the South Lake County Data Center. We hope to grow to be able to help out our neighbors with the rise of these destructive Ai Data Centers.

Who can join the RRA?

Have your local politicians treated you akin to or less than a rat? Have billion dollar corporations tried to wheedle their way into your community with promises of a greater tomorrow? Have you felt the hopelessness of staring up at the Goliath of these corporations, and thinking there was nothing you could do? Welcome to Region Rats Against Data Centers, or the RRA!Though we are based in South Lake County, these lines created by our government do not define us. These Ai Data centers are a human issue, and shouldn't be a partisan one! Whether you live in the Region or not, the RRA welcomes you!

Why "Region Rats Against"?

"Region Rat" was a colloquial and sometimes derogatory term used to describe blue collar workers in the NorthWest Indiana and Chicagoland area. It has become an all encompassing term to describe someone from the Region/NWI area. It is still sometimes used in a derogatory way.We are taking back the term "Region Rat"! We are a strong community that has been treated akin to rats by our local politicians. What do rats do when backed into a corner? They FIGHT BACK!
