More About Portage Township Schools open enrollment for grades kindergarten and 1
Portage Township Schools is excited to invite students throughout Northwest Indiana to enroll in grades kindergarten and 1 for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year!
In order to participate in open enrollment, students and families must meet the following criteria:
- Incoming kindergarten students must turn 5 years old on or before August 1, 2025. Students entering first grade must be 6 years old or have completed an accredited kindergarten program.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to school attendance, academics, and meeting behavior expectations.
- Families must provide transportation to and from school each day.
Enrollment is open only to students entering kindergarten and first grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Students in older grades are not eligible to apply at this time.
