Lakeside Artists Academy The Saturday Symphony

Lakeside Artists Academy is pleased to announce the launch of The Saturday Symphony, a new regional orchestra for dedicated musicians ages 14 and older.

Beginning Saturday, September 19, rehearsals will meet from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at the Sola Center for the Performing Arts at Illiana Christian High School. This auditioned ensemble will give students the opportunity to rehearse and perform orchestral masterworks, film scores, and modern favorites while developing musicianship, confidence, discipline, and advanced ensemble skills.

Saturday Symphony will be directed by Andy Anderson, professional bassist with the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago, professor of double bass at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Orchestra Director at Illiana Christian High School.

The orchestra’s Saturday schedule provides families with a high-level musical opportunity while preserving Sundays for worship, family, and other commitments. It is also designed to serve students throughout Northwest Indiana, including communities farther south that may have limited access to advanced orchestral programs.

By bringing together musicians from multiple schools and communities, Saturday Symphony will create an environment where students can be challenged, encouraged, and inspired through the performance of great music.

Launching and sustaining this program requires community support. Financial contributions will help provide professional instruction, quality repertoire, sectional coaching, equipment, performance expenses, and assistance for students with financial need.

We invite students to audition, families to participate, and individuals, businesses, and organizations to support Saturday Symphony. Together, we can strengthen music education in Northwest Indiana and invest in the next generation of musicians and leaders.
