More About Summer Artist-in-Residence Artist Talk with Xinan Helen Ran

Spend an afternoon with multidisciplinary artist Xinan Ran, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s July 2026 Artist-in-Residence, for an informal conversation about her work this summer at CCP. Held in the Grace Ross Shanley Gallery on Thursday, July 30, from 13:00 to 14:00, the talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at her project Silk Compass, which merges traditional printmaking with contemporary digital materials. Ran explores cartography, electronics, memory, and navigation systems through layered prints and experimental processes, examining how maps shape our understanding of place and history. Her work investigates trade, waste, labor, and culture through a lens balancing trauma, humor, and history. This free event provides a unique opportunity to hear from the artist and view her recent work.
