More About The Insurance Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Contractor 🔨

Late summer and fall are popular times for home improvement projects. Before work begins, a few insurance questions can save you from a costly and stressful situation if something goes wrong.

Ask the following before signing a contract:

1. Do you carry general liability insurance?: This protects you if the contractor damages your property during the project. Ask to see proof, not just a verbal confirmation, before work starts.

2. Are your workers covered by workers’ compensation?: Without this coverage, you could be held financially responsible if a worker is injured on your property during the job. ⚠️

3. Will this project affect my homeowners policy?: Major renovations sometimes need to be reported to your insurer to keep your coverage accurate once the work is complete.

Planning a home project this fall? Contact Agent Bill Schmauch at State Farm Insurance before hiring anyone to make sure you are protected. ‍
