More About Monroe County Recovery Summit
Drug Trends in the Community
Monroe County Substance Use Disorder Awareness Commission (SUDAC) hosts the Monroe County Recovery Summit, which will take place at the Bloomington Convention Center on September 1-2, 2026.
The substance use disorder epidemic kills more people than guns and automobiles. In Monroe County, Indiana, we are losing family members, friends, employees, and employers to overdose and addiction while our foster care system, mental health system, and justice system are unable to meet the demands of our community. We acknowledge the same loss is impacting surrounding communities as well.
Mission Statement
The Monroe County Recovery Summit brings together community members, caring professionals, and stakeholders to educate each other, examine innovative ideas, and to collaborate on evidence-based solutions to the ever increasing drug use problems in our communities. This epidemic has fiscal, medical, legal, spiritual, and generational consequences for those who struggle with addiction and their loved ones. There is no institution that is free from this problem – we must take a proactive approach to help our communities reduce the costs of chaotic use of these substances and this summit will provide us with the tools to better tackle this problem together.
Goals of the Summit
The summit will bring together community members, caring professionals, and stakeholders to EDUCATE each other, examine INNOVATIVE ideas, and to COLLABORATE on compassionate solutions to the ever-increasing drug use problems in our communities.
