More About Texas/Oklahoma WSO and VIRUS Weightlifting Series 2 Championships Return to Fort Worth
The VIRUS Weightlifting Series 2 Championships and Texas/Oklahoma WSO Championship will take over the Fort Worth Convention Center from Thursday, September 10, through Sunday, September 13, bringing more than 500 athletes to Fort Worth for four days of Olympic-style weightlifting competition.
The weekend will bring together elite national competitors and regional talent, including 2024 Paris Olympic bronze medalist Hampton Morris, 2025/26 Senior World Team members D. Irizarry and Gabe Chhum, and 2026 Senior
Pan American medalist Hutton Boles.
Morris, Irizarry and Chhum are expected to make their final national competition appearance before representing Team USA at the Senior World Championships in Ningbo, China, later this fall, a major qualifying event for LA28.
Held in Fort Worth for the third consecutive year, the VIRUS Weightlifting Series 2 Championships will feature
athletes from across the country competing on the national stage. Taking place simultaneously, the Texas/Oklahoma WSO Championship will showcase competitors from across the region, bringing even more weightlifting talent to Fort Worth throughout the weekend.
Both competitions are free and open to the public, giving spectators the opportunity to experience Olympic-style weightlifting up close and watch some of the nation's and region's top athletes compete.
