It’s Sumo Time! Experience Sumo Championship League’s Inaugural Event in Austin
Sumo Championship League (SCL), the newly launched professional sumo league bringing live, authentic competition and a modern, family-friendly event experience to the U.S., will officially launch its inaugural season in Austin on Saturday, October 10, at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
What to Expect:
• Authentic Professional Sumo Competition: Elite heavyweight athletes will meet one-on-one inside the dohyō, with each wrestler looking to force his opponent out of the ring or off his feet. Matches can end in seconds or turn into dramatic battles of strength and leverage.
• Live Arena Experience: SCL combines the traditions and intensity of authentic sumo with a modern, family-friendly sporting event featuring emerging rivalries and high-stakes matchups.
• A New Professional League Format: Every match counts toward SCL’s season-long standings, with wrestlers competing throughout the season for prize money and championship positioning leading into the league’s first Annual Championship in late 2027.
