St. Luke’s RC Church to Host 13th Annual White Mass and Anointing of Hands for Healthcare Workers
TOMS RIVER, NJ — October 18, 2026 — In honor of Saint Luke, the patron saint of physicians, Saint Luke’s Roman Catholic Church invites healthcare workers of all faiths, alongside their families and friends, to attend the 13th Annual White Coat Mass on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
The special service offers spiritual support and gratitude for the dedication and compassion of all individuals involved in healthcare delivery. During the celebration, participants will receive a symbolic Anointing of the Hands to bless their work in caring for the sick and vulnerable.
"This Mass and Anointing of the Hands are one of our most moving celebrations, a simple yet powerful act that offers both spiritual support and communal recognition for individuals working in healthcare-related positions," said June Brandes Chu, Healthcare Workers Mass Coordinator at Saint Luke’s. "The White Coat Mass is inspiring for all who attend as healthcare workers are recognized in a special way and prayed for by our community, family members, and friends."
The tradition of the "White Coat Mass" takes its name from the attire historically worn by physicians, nurses, and medical professionals. Healthcare workers, practitioners, caregivers, and support staff across all medical disciplines are welcome.
