More About MRTC Presents: The Laramie Project
Mill Race Theatre Company presents The Laramie Project, a powerful documentary-style play by Moisés Kaufman and the members of Tectonic Theater Project.
In October 1998, University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was murdered in a hate crime that drew national attention. In the months that followed, members of Tectonic Theater Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming, conducting hundreds of interviews with residents, community leaders, friends, and others connected to the community.
Drawing from those interviews, journal entries, and news reports, The Laramie Project tells the story of a community confronting grief, anger, fear, prejudice, compassion, and hope. More than 25 years later, the questions it asks about empathy, justice, and how we understand one another remain deeply relevant.
