More About Light up the Lake Christmas Celebration

The magic of the holiday season comes alive in Lake Charles each year with the annual Light Up the Lake Christmas Celebration. This festive, family-friendly event features a variety of holiday activities, including the popular Holiday Art Walk, presented by the Arts & Humanities Council of SWLA. Visitors can enjoy delicious bites from local food trucks, festive drinks, and shop unique handmade arts, crafts, and holiday gifts from local artisans. The celebration also includes Santa’s Workshop, where children can participate in holiday crafts, activities, and meet Santa himself. Throughout the day, live music performances by the Lake Charles Community Band and the Last Minute Big Band fill the air with holiday cheer, leading up to a dazzling lighting ceremony. New this year, the Christmas Walking Parade will bring the Christmas magic to the streets of downtown Lake Charles. The night concludes with a spectacular fireworks show over the lake, set to music broadcast on local radio. Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for a full day of holiday fun and entertainment. Please note that coolers and pets are not permitted.
