More About Sensory Friendly Day
Explore. Discover. Feel Comfortable.
Sensory-Friendly Day invites families to experience Connecticut Science Center in a calmer, more comfortable environment. Through thoughtful environmental adjustments and a supportive atmosphere, we aim to reduce sensory barriers and create space for exploration, comfort, and choice. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or on your own, you’re welcome to engage with science in the way that feels right for you.
What to Expect
Reduced sound levels in exhibits and common spaces
Adjusted lighting where possible, including reduced flashing or strobing effects
Quiet spaces available for rest, regulation, or downtime
Flexible exploration where visitors are welcome to move freely, skip exhibits, or revisit favorites
Supportive staff prepared to help create a welcoming experience
Who It’s For
Open to anyone who may benefit from a less stimulating environment, including individuals with sensory sensitivities, neurodivergent visitors, families seeking a calmer Science Center experience, and anyone who prefers a quieter, more relaxed way to explore.
