More About The Christmas Light Math Most Homeowners Never Think About 🎄

Christmas lights make a house look festive. They also add another electrical load, which is why “just one more strand” is not always as innocent as it sounds.

· Know the wattage: Check the manufacturer's information on your lights. Different light sets can use very different amounts of power.

· Know your circuit: The total load from lights and other devices sharing the same circuit matters. A breaker protects the circuit from excessive current. ⚡

· Do not forget extension cords: The cord itself needs to be rated appropriately for the load and location. A light set may be low-power, but the wrong cord can still create a problem.

You do not need a calculator worthy of NASA. You just need to know what your lights require and what else is sharing that circuit.

Safe & Sound Electric can determine whether your holiday lighting setup is safe for your home. Consult with them before the decorating begins. 👨‍🔧
