Auction for Kent Arts Fund

The City of Kent Arts Commission maintains a collection of two-dimensional, portable artworks displayed in public areas of City buildings. The first artworks were acquired in 1976. Since that time, the collection has grown to 435 pieces.

The Arts Commission is offering selected artworks for purchase through an online auction starting November 2 and running through the end of the year. Approximately 150 artworks spanning a broad range of sizes and artistic mediums will be available. All proceeds will go into the Kent Arts Commission’s City Art account to support future art projects in Kent.

The artworks being auctioned will be displayed for in-person viewing in the Centennial Center Gallery at 400 West Gowe Street in Kent.

The Arts Commission formally deaccessioned these pieces to accommodate reduced wall-space in future City facilities. Offering the artworks for public purchase provides an opportunity for community members to acquire and enjoy pieces from the city’s collection, rather than keeping them in permanent storage.
