More About Earth Day at Reed's Farm!
Celebrating Slow Food and the Community
Join us for a day at the farm celebrating the Slow Food movement and the people working to bring good, clean, fair food to our region. The day features a mix of speakers, local partners, and hands-on experiences across the farm, with family-friendly activities like face painting for kids.
Slow Food representation will include:
Kris Reid, Executive Director of Slow Food
Slow Farm - Reed's Farm
Slow Seed - Jeff Quattrone and Damon from Our Peace & Unity Garden
Slow Fish - Scallop Shack Farms
Other activities for the day include:
10am: Women’s Health Speaker Series & Kids' Yoga
In this session we will explore the energetics of our bodies and the energetics of the seasons, specifically focusing on the transition from winter to spring and the ways we can engage with herbs and the landscape around us to nourish and support our bodies' natural processes and pathways for elimination (the kidneys, the liver, the lymphatic system). Tickets available on our website!
10am-12pm: Face Painting
Open to all ages! Face painting will be underneath our covered patio closest to the greenhouses. Face painting by MU Artistry, Amanda DeSouza
11am-2pm: Wood-Fired Pizzas
Made-to-order wood-fired pizzas will be available starting at 11am until supplies last! Our pizzas feature seasonal ingredients grown right here on the farm. Special guest appearance by Chef Dom from Atlantic City!
11:30am: Farm Tour
Join our herbalist, Leah, and vegetable manager, Kristin, for a tour of Reed's Farm! You will learn more about the organization, our growing practices, and get up close & personal with our plants. Guests will be able to say hello to our animals along the way! Interested guests can meet under the covered patio closest to the greenhouse at 11am.
1pm: Farmer's Row Panel Discussion
Learn about how we are working to create a local equitable food system in nearby Atlantic City! Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of the discussion. The panel discussion will be held on the pizza patio, so grab a wood-fired pizza and a farm fresh drink to enjoy while you listen!
2:30pm: Book Signing with Jeff Tkach, CEO of Rodale Institute
Join Jeff Tkach, the CEO of Rodale Institute, for a book signing and Q&A for his recently published book, The Farm Is Here! Books will be available for purchase while supplies last. Light refreshments will be available. Interested guests can meet on the patio closest to the greenhouses.
We hope to see you there!
