More About Family Boat Olympics: Fun Sailing Challenges to Try Outdoors 🏅
Once the boats are built, the real fun begins. All it takes is a few creative challenges to get started:
• The straight-line race: Mark a start and finish point on opposite sides of the pond. Each boat sails across using only wind power. The winner is whoever crosses first, which rewards good sail angle and ballast balance. ��️
• The obstacle course: Float a few sticks or plastic cups on the water as markers. Boats must navigate past them without touching. This tests rudder control and rewards builders who spent time on steering rather than just speed.
• The wind experiment: Try sailing on a calm day versus a breezy one. Compare how different sail shapes perform in different conditions. Record which design handles both well. ��
