The University of Minnesota North Central Research and Outreach Center (NCROC) in Grand Rapids opened its doors in 1896. As we represent the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, NCROC strives to insure a sustainable way of life in addressing both the current and changing values of our classic “woods and water” landscape that includes both climate change and the northern migration of agriculture. This along with the unique soil, climate, social, and economic environment in Northern Minnesota provide many research and outreach opportunities.
The unique strength of the NCROC is characterized by the diversity of its research programs led by faculty and staff who focus on areas of Agronomy, Animal Science, Forest Biology and Genetics, Forest Management and Economics, Horticulture, Tourism and Travel, and Wild Rice.
