More About Torchlight Talk: The Gist of Bid Whist by Lamont Jones

This month’s Torchlight Talk is with a twist…it’s card night! We will be in conversation with author Lamont Jones about his new book and the significant historical links between the card game and Black folks throughout history.
Following the talk, Lamont will give a mini-tutorial on the basics of Bid Whist. Open play will follow so bring your favorite partner and come prepared to play your game of choice may it be Spades, Bridge, Hearts, or Gin Rummy!

Light bites and refreshments will be served. Prizes and gifts will be given courtesy of Bicycle Playing Cards.

About author Lamont Jones:
A boxing business attorney and executive, Lamont Jones maintains that the deals most meaningful to him are not those he’s negotiated or litigated on behalf of boxing managers, promoters, or champions.
Instead, the contracts that most makes his heart sing are those he enters and defends against at the card table, playing Bid Whist. Jones believes that card games connect people, and that the rich story of Bid Whist is one that deserves to be widely known.
