More About Protecting Plants Ecologically

In the fifth workshop of our Ecological Landscapes series we will learn how plants in nature are protected from pests by the biological processes of biodiversity and the balance of nature. We will learn the essential role of beneficial creatures such as birds, beneficial insects and frogs in these processes. We will then learn how we can protect our plants by allowing these processes to work on our properties, by establishing populations of these beneficial creatures on our properties. We show how we can do this by providing them with the essentials of life: food, water and shelter. We thereby eliminate the need for pesticides. Out on the Audubon property, we will observe these processes at work.

We will also discuss non-natural yet ecologically compatible methods for dealing with special plant pest and disease problems.
