More About Jay Heritage Center

The non-profit Jay Heritage Center is helping to restore and revitalize a place that has meaning for all Americans - the 23 acre Jay Estate. Many people called this place home: Paleo-Indians who found a fertile place to settle next to Milton Harbor; Founding Father John Jay and his descendants who share a lineage of public service even today; enslaved and emancipated families whose identities are slowly coming to light; Irish, Dutch, English, Swedish, Danish, Italian and French immigrants who left their imprints in the gardens and the buildings; and strong women, including one of America’s earliest landscape architects. It is the centerpiece of a National Historic Landmark, an irreplaceable cultural and natural resource, and illustrates the evolution of democracy in the United States. Through lectures, workshops, volunteer opportunities, school programs and musical performances, JHC offers timely lessons in History, Environmental Conservation, Architecture, Social Justice and more.

Two of the primary venues on the site, the 1838 Jay Mansion and the 1907 Van Norden Carriage House, are consistently furnished with citizens and ideas, not just artifacts. JHC promotes learning through interactive experiences. Lectures, concerts, and children's camps are led by prominent experts and academics in a variety of disciplines from sustainability to legal history to archaeology.

You can choose your medium: the website, the mobile app, the weekly newsletter, our popular wall calendar, or any combination of the four.

If you're uncertain about your event, please feel free to contact your local publisher to inquire about his or her policies prior to posting.

Remember too that we are a family friendly organization and reserve the right to reject any events that we deem inappropriate for our calendar or online media tools.
