LET'S CAN HUNGER! MAFC is hosting a canned and non-perishable food drive during the month of March. Donations may be dropped off in the front lobby and will be distributed right back into our own community. We are offering 50% off the initial joining fee to all new members who donate at least 5 food items. Members who donate 5 items can register in a weekly drawing for a free month. Bill Dunn donated and won a free month membership! Congrats, Bill!
FOR THE KIDS
Join us for upcoming School Day Out! We invite our youngest members to join us for a fun-filled day during the teacher workday on March 20. Activities will include arts and crafts, gym games, outdoor play, and swimming. A few spots remain.
Bring your family & your peeps to our free community Easter Celebration, Friday, March 20 from 5:30pm-8pm! A special bunny will be making an appearance! Enjoy an age-based egg hunt along with crafts, games, a bounce house, and kids dance class. The Hog n Dog Too, Simply the Zest lemonade, and Nothing Bundt Cakes will be available for purchase.
Parent’s Night Out – Spots remain for MAFC's Easter Edition of PARENT'S NIGHT OUT! Parents, enjoy a date night or just a quiet night at home while your kids (ages walking to 12 years) spend the evening with us on Friday, April 3 from 5pm-9pm! Kids will go swimming, have a pizza dinner, and play games in the gymnasium. Event is also open to non-members, so bring a friend! Cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
Kids Spring Break Camp – April 6-10. Do your children have plans for spring break? We'd love to have them spend the week with us enjoying arts/crafts, games in the gymnasium, swimming, dance classes and a field trip. Camp is daily from 7am – 6pm. The cost is $125 for kids 5-12 years old. Members can register in person at the front desk.

If you are interested in becoming a Certified Lifeguard; we have a certification class running April 17 – 19. The cost of the three-day class is $175 for members and $250 for non-members. Participants must attend all days and show proficiency in all required skills to receive certification. Registration is required by April 3. Join us on March 24 at 5:30pm for The Balance Blueprint presented by FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers. Learn how to stay steady and confident on your feet in this informative and interactive seminar that is open to both members and the public. Registration is requested at the front desk.
Curious about the Mediterranean way of eating but not sure where to start? On Monday, March 30 from 11:30am – 12:30pm, Judith Hernandez will present 7 Steps to the Mediterranean Way. This program offers a clear, engaging overview of the Mediterranean diet and its core principles for improved health and nutrition. Registration is encouraged.
Members 14+ can register to take one of our SELF DEFENSE CLASSES. This two-hour course lead by the City of Monroe Police Department includes a safety awareness presentation and self-defense training in various scenarios with technique practice. Classes are Saturday, May 2 from 12pm-2pm or Wednesday, May 6 from 5:30pm-7:30-pm. The cost is only $10.
Learn how to save a life! Join us for our Community CPR Training and become a certified lifesaver! Our hands-on, expert-led sessions will equip you with the skills and confidence to respond swiftly and effectively. Choose between Saturday, May 9 or Saturday, May 23 from 10am -1pm in the Activity Room. The class is open to anyone age 14+, and the cost is $60.

If you need to secure a week for your child age 5-12 in our Summer Day Camp, please do so in person at the front desk. We can't wait to welcome your children to an unforgettable camp experience! The Reading Reef – Where Books Make a Splash. Located in the hallway outside of Tot’s Corner, The Reading Reef is a children’s book exchange. Our youngest members can take a book or leave a book. There is no check out system and they don’t have to return the book.
The Coffee Nut - “Where coffee creates a community”. Hours: Monday – Friday 9:30am – 11:30am. The Coffee Nut give UCPS Transition to Adulthood Students an opportunity to learn on the job training and life skills. They offer several types of coffee, iced coffee, and hot apple cider to our members and the public. Find The Coffee Nut located just off the MAFC Main Lobby.
Be our Guest! – MAFC welcomes guests of members. If you would love to bring a friend to enjoy our facility, please use this link to view our guest policy and rates. Non-members must be accompanied by a member and pay a rate of $15/day.
Give them a birthday party they will never forget! Our splashtacular birthday parties are available indoors year-round and outdoors in the summer season. Parties are open to members and non-members! Racquetball Challenge Nights - Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm – 9:30pm are reserved for friendly competition between members. No reservations are required. This is a great way to meet other racquetball players at your skill level.
Knitting Club – First and Third Wednesdays, 1:00pm – 2:00pm in the Activity Room. Bring your own supplies as Nurse Sheila and Nurse Tracey instruct you through various knitting projects and techniques. FREE on-going event open to MAFC members.
Parkinson’s Exercise Class – Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30am – 11:30am. Class is open to the public, but registration is required by contacting our Novant Wellness Center at 704-282-4693.
