Reminder - important HVAC vent and duct cleaning takes place in the Fitness Room this week May 4-8.
To minimize disruption, the Fitness Room will remain partially open throughout the process, with sections closed on a rotating schedule. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary maintenance.

This Saturday, May 9, MAFC welcomes the Hornets Hoops Basketball clinic. These young athletes will use the gymnasium to work on their skills. The basketball courts will be closed that day from 8:30am until 11:45am. Because of this closure, Saturday morning’s 9am Dance Cardio will meet in Studio A. In addition, the class size for that day is limited to 20 participants. All other Group Fitness classes will go on as scheduled.

TOMORROW - Member Appreciation Day! Stop by our front lobby for “Taco Tuesday” on May 5 from 4pm-7pm to enjoy a high-protein walking taco! Grab a bag of protein chips and load it up with your favorite taco toppings for the ultimate on-the-go snack (while supplies last).
The water park at Monroe Aquatics & Fitness Center opens for the season this Saturday, May 9! Grab your sunscreen and come get your summer started with us weekends only until May 25. The weekend hours are Saturdays from 11am-5pm and Sundays from 1pm – 5pm. Stacey’s Place Food Truck will be onsite from 12n until 6pm on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Food trucks are open to the public.
Join us on the America 250 Fitness Challenge at MAFC! Through October 11, it's time to lace up your sneakers and join us in completing 250 miles of exercise. Remember, 15 minutes of exercise equals 1 mile, and every workout counts when logged and stamped by our friendly MAFC staff. Pick up your fitness log at the MAFC front desk! Complete the challenge to earn a custom T-shirt, America250 Finisher’s medal, and a chance to win incredible prizes like a FREE 3-MONTH MEMBERSHIP, 30-minute massage, and more! Plus, crush those bonus miles each week for extra entries.
Join us on Thursday, May 7 for an exciting visit to the Charlotte Museum, where you’ll discover the Carolinas’ legendary role in the American Revolution. We will depart MAFC at 10am and return around 5:30pm. The cost of $20 includes transportation and your museum ticket. Explore a special gallery dedicated to local history, featuring stories from the pivotal Battle of Kings Mountain and the Battle of Charlotte. This trip is open to members and non-members.
Learn how to save a life! Join us for our Community CPR Training and become a certified lifesaver! Our hands-on, expert-led sessions will equip you with the skills and confidence to respond swiftly and effectively. Choose between Saturday, May 9 or Saturday, May 23 from 10am -1pm in the Activity Room. The class is open to anyone age 14+, and the cost is $60.
Members and non-members ages 7-14 can join Hornets Hoops for an action-packed skills & drills basketball clinic on Saturday, May 9 from 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Boys and Girls of all skill levels are welcomed. The cost is only $65. Every participant receives a Hornets Hoops t-shirt and TWO ticket vouchers to a Hornets home game. Continue to explore the Mediterranean Way. Tuesday, May 12 at 11:30am, Judith Hernandez will teach you how to Change Your Protein. Registration at the front desk by May 8 is required as the presentation includes a recipe demonstration.
Our final LIFEGUARD certification class of the season is June 9-11. The cost of the three-day class is $175 for members and $250 for non-members. After choosing a session, participants must attend all days and show proficiency in all required skills to receive certification. Registration is required by May 26. Middle school, high school, and college swimmers can train with gold medalist, Cullen Jones, on Saturday, June 13 during a 2-hour advanced swim clinic. This clinic starts at 1pm and is open to members and non-members who are at least 10 years old and able to swim a 50-yard freestyle and one other 50-yard competitive stroke. Cost is $60 for members and $100 for non-members. Register at the front desk!

The Reading Reef – Where Books Make a Splash. Located in the hallway outside of Tot’s Corner, The Reading Reef is a children’s book exchange. Our youngest members can take a book or leave a book. There is no check out system and they don’t have to return the book.
The Coffee Nut - “Where coffee creates a community”. Hours: Monday – Friday 9:30am – 11:30am. The Coffee Nut gives UCPS Transition to Adulthood Students an opportunity to learn on the job training and life skills. They offer several types of coffee, iced coffee, and hot apple cider to our members and the public. Find The Coffee Nut located just off the MAFC Main Lobby.
Be our Guest! – MAFC welcomes guests of members. If you would love to bring a friend to enjoy our facility, please use this link to view our guest policy and rates. Non-members must be accompanied by a member and pay a rate of $15/day.

Knitting Club – First and Third Wednesdays, 1:00pm – 2:00pm in the Activity Room. Bring your own supplies as Nurse Sheila and Nurse Tracey instruct you through various knitting projects and techniques. FREE on-going event open to MAFC members.
Parkinson’s Exercise Class – Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30am – 11:30am. Class is open to the public, but registration is required by contacting our Novant Wellness Center at 704-282-4693.
