More About A Journey to the Past: Silent Film Night with Live Organ
Organist Ian Fraser accompanies two silent comedy classics live on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ at the historic Brook Theatre in Bound Brook. The program pairs Laurel and Hardy's "Liberty" (1929), in which the pair play escaped convicts who end up on the girders of a half-built skyscraper, with Buster Keaton's "Three Ages" (1923), the first feature Keaton directed, which follows one romantic rivalry through the Stone Age, ancient Rome and the 1920s.
The screening closes out the first day of Somerset County's Weekend Journey Through the Past. The 1927 theatre, across from the Bound Brook train station, is also open for free building tours Saturday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 11, noon to 4 p.m.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the films begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Walk-ups are welcome, and optional Pay What You Can reservations are available online.
