More About Indy’s Spring Festival Weekend: Fruehlingsfest at German Park

Frühlingsfests (spring fests) are a unique experience of German culture, and were brought to Indiana by our immigrant ancestors in the mid/late 1800s. They were very common in Indiana until WW1. In 2017, Your Klub resurrected this great tradition in Central Indiana, with our own brand of German-American spring flavor. This year, we mark our 8th annual Frühlingsfest Weekend and expand from just the Edelweiss Biergarten to German Park.

SCHEDULE
➡Friday Night Walpurgisnacht features the blessing of the Biergarten and tapping of MashCraft’s Frühlingsfest Maibock, the dance of the witches, and DysFunktion Brass Band all evening.
➡Maitag Saturday features spring arts and crafts and garden sale, kids arts and crafts area, music all day. Evening features Jay Fox and the Jammin’ Germans, Liederkranz German Band, School of Rock, Bandltanz (Ribbon Dance of the Maypole) and the time-honored Maibaumaufstellen (the raising of the May Pole).

FOOD
A special spring-inspired German Menu will include Spargel (asparagus), the famous GAK Kartoffelpuffer fresh off the grill, and extra special spring desserts like Bienenstich and Blumenkuchen.
