More About Music at Asbury presents Quintette 7 of West Point

Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church is delighted to welcome back Quintette 7 of West Point in a free outdoor concert, produced under the auspices of the church’s professional concert series, Music at Asbury.

Quintette 7 is a one-of-a-kind sextet of three rhythm players (piano, bass, drums) and three horns (trumpet, clarinet, saxophone) drawn from the personnel of the West Point Concert Band and the band’s Field Music Group, The Hellcats. This unique ensemble will present a program of original arrangements titled “Cartoon Music,” consisting of popular favorites as well as classics with a mix of jazz and patriotism that will keep your foot tapping.

Comprised of graduates from America’s finest music schools, the professional musicians of the West Point Band provide world-class music and support to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets and to serve as ambassadors of the United States Military Academy and the Army for local, national, and international communities. The West Point Band’s chamber ensembles perform for official military functions, social occasions, formal concerts, public service and educational youth clinics and concerts. As this dynamic ensemble has developed since its founding in 2008, Quintette 7 has been featured on a variety of programs including Musicians@Google in NYC, the Fox Network broadcast of the West Point Holiday Show, and annually on the Trophy Point concert series for the beloved “Kid’s Night with Quintette 7.” In 2010, Quintette 7 released a cd recording of twenty-two pieces by composer Raymond Scott titled “Powerhouse.”

This is a 70-minute program with no intermission, held outdoors in the open air chapel at Asbury United Methodist Church.

In case of rain, concert will be held inside the sanctuary.

Reservations are recommended for concert seating; lawn seating and “bring your own chair” seating available in the rear of the parking lot. Ample parking. Refreshments will be served following the performance.

Reservations can be made online at Click for Details or by calling the church office 914-779-3722 and leaving a message with name, phone number, email address, and number in your party.

Music at Asbury was launched in November of 2014 by Lu Gmoser, founding producer of Asbury Summer Theatre, and Dr. Earl F. Groner. As a program of Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church, Music at Asbury is designed to serve as a social service to the community, offering free performances by some of New York City and the Hudson Valley’s finest musical artists.

The Rev. Jason Radmacher is pastor of Asbury Church and Mary Thombs is Minister of Music and Chair of Music at Asbury.

This program is made possible in part through an Arts Westchester Challenge Grant.
