Within silence, we can discover deeper aspects of wisdom using the ancient teachings from Buddha to integrate into our modern lives. Even if you've never tried or think that you can be silent, would like to invite you to experience the benefits of silence by exploring your mind with wisdom.
Meditation is used to recognize harmful states of mind and replace them with beneficial states that function to create a settled and peaceful mind by focusing our attention appropriately on a virtuous object like patient acceptance.
In this silent retreat, Gen Chokyi will explore the following:
- The destructive nature of anger and resentment and how it creates suffering now and in the future
- The ability to recognize this destructive mind and re-focus in a beneficial way using logic to protect your mind and in turn protect others
- How to navigate with meditation the immense benefits of not following our instinctive reaction to retaliate and harm others
“Anger is the friend of no one. Our anger never helps us, and another person’s anger never helps them. All anger ever does is destroy our own and others’ virtues and bring nothing but unhappiness.” — Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
SCHEDULE
10:00 - 11:30am — Session 1
11:45am - 1pm — Session 2
