More About National Cheese Day

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average American consumes around 38 pounds of cheese per year. Cheese is used in many popular American dishes, such as pizza, macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and more.

In addition to its use in traditional American dishes, cheese is also enjoyed on its own as a snack or appetizer. Cheese platters and cheese boards have become increasingly popular in recent years, and many restaurants and bars now offer a wide selection of cheeses to enjoy with wine or other drinks.

Here are some of the most popular cheeses in America:

Cheddar: Cheddar is a firm, smooth cheese that is often used in sandwiches and burgers. It has a sharp, tangy flavor and a pale yellow color.

Mozzarella: Mozzarella is a soft, mild cheese that is often used on pizzas and in Italian dishes like lasagna. It has a milky flavor and a stretchy, elastic texture.

Swiss: Swiss cheese is a pale-yellow cheese with small holes and a nutty flavor. It is often used in sandwiches and melts and is a popular addition to cheese platters.

Parmesan: Parmesan is a hard, granular cheese that is often grated over pasta dishes and salads. It has a sharp, salty flavor and a nutty aroma.

Blue Cheese: Blue cheese is a pungent, creamy cheese that is often used in salads and dips. It has a distinct blue mold running through it, which gives it its characteristic flavor.

Feta: Feta is a crumbly, tangy cheese that is often used in Greek dishes like salads and spanakopita. It has a salty flavor and a soft texture.
