More About Allegany College of Maryland Launches Day of Giving on April 17

Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) will hold its first #ALLeganyGives Day of Giving starting at 12 pm on April 17 and ending 24 hours later. ACM aims to raise $62,000 to support students and honor its 62-year history.

"We hope you will join us in supporting the ‘all’ in Allegany,” said David Jones, the college’s vice president of Advancement and Community Relations and the executive director of the ACM Foundation.

Jones and Courtney Jensen, director of Grants and Development, hope to galvanize support from alumni, community members and friends of ACM. According to Jensen, each gift has value because it shows a belief in students and the college’s future.

She added that donating can have a fun, secondary purpose for some ACC/ACM alumni and supporters. “In the spirit of healthy competition, we’re encouraging classes or individuals to ‘challenge’ one another to give or support a particular Impact Fund,” Jensen said. She noted that an Advocate and Social Media Toolkit is available online at Click for Details to aid donors.

Nine Impact Funds were selected for the ALLeganyGives Day of Giving event, and gifts can be made online, in person at a Day of Giving event, or by mail to the ACM Foundation at Allegany College of Maryland.

The Athletics Fund supports student-athletes, sports facilities and other athletic needs.

The Bedford County Campus Fund provides added support for ACM’s campus in Everett.

The Campus Facilities Fund enhances where students and the community learn and connect.

The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Fund supports lifelong learning, professional growth and training for evolving workforce demands.

The DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) Fund fosters an inclusive, equitable campus by helping students through scholarships and emergency grants.

The Pantry Fund ensures access to food, hygiene and personal supplies for those in need.

The Scholarship Fund makes higher education more accessible for #ALL(egany) students.

The Unrestricted Fund allows ACM to distribute resources where they’re most needed.

The Your Choice Fund is a donor-determined gift to an area or initiative of their choice.

Incentives to Give

ACM is offering a range of enticements for Day of Giving donors. Every contributor will receive an #ALLegany Day of Giving 2024 stamp magnet. The first 200 donors who contribute $50 or more receive a limited-edition t-shirt. The first 10 donors who give $250 can receive a stainless-steel ACM water bottle and a limited-edition t-shirt.

Multiple matching gifts (donations that double the impact of a gift) have been set up, and the ACM Foundation will add an extra gift to the top three funds with the most ALLeganyGives donors.

Supporters can also connect with in-person events for ACM’s Day of Giving.

Queen City Creamery will be in front of College Center from 12-3 pm on April 17 to offer free sweet treats at ACM to anyone who donates at least $1 to ALLeganyGives. The college will host coffee for those who prefer to donate while caffeinated from 7:30-10:30 am on April 18, inside the College Center. A similar coffee and donation event will be held at the ACM Bedford County Campus.
