About Hawaiian Sanctuary

Our mission is to conduct Hawaiian cultural, wellness, and agricultural education promoting a spirit of aloha.

Hawaiian Sanctuary is a 44-acre farm and eco-retreat wellness center comprised of beautiful class spaces and as well as a variety of accommodations, including our glamping-style eco-pods. Learn and stay amongst a landscape of lush plants, tropical fruits, a nursery, and gardens, all of which provide resident interns and guests with a significant portion of their food.

Since 2012, Hawaiian Sanctuary has held non-profit 501c3 status and has run a fully operational year-round internship program in which we host 10-15 interns at any time for a 3-6 month period. With diverse learning tracts such as permaculture, leadership, yoga, and farm-to-table meal production, our interns flourish here while they learn applicable skills to take out into the world. In addition to our interns, and guests, we also serve the Puna community (from Keiki to elders) through a variety of on-going wellness and agricultural courses and programs, including permaculture classes, yoga, Hawaiian cultural classes (e.g., Hula), and more. We also host special events such as our recent Audio Alchemy Retreat, and our upcoming Yoga Teacher Training Retreat, and MAnaFestival, a 2-day women's empowerment music festival.

One of our primary goals is hosting sustainable farming classes, educating our interns and the larger community using a hands-on curriculum promoting the preservation and propagation of endemic Hawaiian plants species using natural farming and permaculture practices. We seek to address a variety of topics relevant to our local rural community. The District of Puna has the lowest socioeconomic levels in the state. Many families live below the poverty line and are living without safe food security. We want that to change, and with further donor and sponsor support we can continue to make a difference.

If you're uncertain about your event, please feel free to contact your local publisher to inquire about his or her policies prior to posting.

Remember too that we are a family friendly organization and reserve the right to reject any events that we deem inappropriate for our calendar or online media tools.
