More About Free Community Herb Garden Returns

Rockport MA: Free Herbal and Edible Flower Garden returns to the storefront of Apothecary Suil Crow, a quaint little shop located at the Whistlestop Mall in Rockport Massachusetts that offers a verity of olde world items to the community.

This annual event of spring/summertime gardening began with the hopes of offering those that found themselves in need of fresh herbs and floral undertones for a healthy meal and those that may be food insecure the availability to enjoy pesticide free naturally grown items. Herbs will consist of over 15 verities including favorites such as sage, rosemary, oregano, parsley, peppermint and lavender. There will be over 20 different edible flowers with signs and information on each one. Pots of tomato plants and Apothecary Suil Crows famous strawberries from last year will also be returning.

Rebeccah Pearson owner of Apothecary Suil Crow says “we enjoy bringing nature and education to the community and it brings a smile to our faces as we watch the patrons take pleasure in observing the items as they grow and pick what they need to feed their families”.

Last year the community joined in the efforts and this year sponsorship for the annual project from Danielle of Serene Garden Design of Beverly MA, Corliss Brothers Garden Center of Ipswich, and Coast Of Maine in collaboration with Wolf Hill in Gloucester, has allowed more items to arrive this year!

Planting will begin mid April as the sun gets stronger and by mid May the seeds will be established and will start showing signs of growth. Rebeccah an Olde World Practitioner carries her love for nature in the shop as well with dried pepper wreaths, dried flowers and roses and has been know to give potted flowers to the public. If you are interested in helping the efforts of Rebeccah at her establishment please contact her at 978-457-4624 or find Apothecary Suil Crow on the social media networking platform of Facebook.

“This day and age it is so important to not only educate the next generation on growing and cultivation of food but to always remember to help those in need. Being food insecure happens to more people than many are aware or want to admit. Recently over the holidays I discovered how some people really don’t understand that you may live in a wealthy community, but food insecurity is everywhere. This is our chance to show everyone that you to can grow seeds and plant your own food whether it’s in a back yard, or on top of a sidewalk, nature will always conform to its surrounds ….. and that is truly magical!”
