More About Visions and Voices: African American Voting Experience in Laurel

Keith Sydnor’s 2023 election as Laurel’s first African American mayor was an important milestone, but only part of the community’s African American voting story. The Laurel Museum’s newest temporary exhibit “Visions and Voices 1920-2023 The African American Voting Experience in Laurel, Maryland” running February 16-June 16, 2024, celebrates his and others electoral accomplishments. The exhibit explores some of the highlights and perspectives of African Americans who ran for city office. Located at 817 Main Street, Laurel, MD, the Museum is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12-4. Admission is free.
