More About Shanksville Memorial Day Service

Shanksville Stoneycreek American Legion Post 911 will observe Memorial Day on May 30th. The service will be held at 4:15 p.m. on the Shanksville Community Grove Bandstand grounds. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 911 Honor Guard both at the Shanksville Grove and the Lambertsville ceremonies.
The speaker is Maj. Gen. Clair Gill, retired US Army. Eighth-grade Americanism Award winners will participate in both ceremonies. Rylee Boone will recite “In Flanders Fields” and Isaac Mostoller will recite the Gettysburg Address. Jose Snyder, the 12-grade aware winner of Somerset County and PA 21st District for the American Legion National High School Essay Contest, will read her winning essay.
Shanksville HS Band will perform music selections and play taps. Open to the public.
