More About Strawberry Moon River Walk with Waban Webquish

Experience the land through the lens of Traditional Ecological Knowledge with Nipmuc-Wampanoag culture keeper and wildlife photographer Waban Webquish. Learn about the history of the Charles River from a new perspective and its significance to the Natick Indigenous peoples. As we enter the Strawberry Moon cycle with the June new moon, the river's edge is in full motion: turtles bask on logs after laying their eggs in the sandy banks, dragonflies and damselflies skim the water at the height of their emergence, and Red-winged Blackbirds, kingbirds, and orioles defend active nests in the reeds and canopy. This moment invites us to slow down, listen, and notice how each being participates in the river's renewal.
