More About US Ghost Adventures - St. Augustine
St. Augustine’s Haunted History
As the oldest settlement in America, St. Augustine has no shortage of terrifying and hair-raising tales, spirits, and spots.
First discovered by Ponce De Leon in 1533 and later settled by Pedro Menendez de Aviles as the Spanish state’s first governor, St. Augustine began fighting off pirates and enemies of Spain. This violent history left death and destruction in its wake.
St. Augustine was a contested site for the Spanish and English colonizers, and the United States eventually acquired it in 1821. The city’s history has preserved its history over the centuries, and countless historical sites are still available to tour.
Many spooky surprises await you around nearly every corner. Take a step into the historic district and browse old jails, schools, bars, hotels, and cemeteries where some lost souls have remained.
