🚨 Important Updates:
• Drop-Off Recycling Centers
Due to a continual increase in illegal dumping and contamination, which results in increased costs, the Lake County Solid Waste Management District has decided to end its Recycling Center Drop Off Program.
Residents without curbside recycling are encouraged to contact their garbage hauler for curbside recycling options.
• Battery Recycling
Effective immediately, batteries are no longer accepted around the county due to increased risk of fires. All batteries should be disposed of through our Household Hazardous Waste Collections.

More About Lake County Solid Waste Management District
The Lake County Solid Waste Management District (LCSWMD) works to protect the environment and reduce waste across Lake County through education, recycling programs, and community services. Established in 1991 by the Indiana State Legislature, the District helps residents, schools, and businesses reduce waste through the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
LCSWMD offers a wide range of programs and services for Lake County residents, including Household Hazardous Waste collection, electronics recycling, tire recycling, appliance drop-off locations, compost distribution, latex paint recycling events, and seasonal leaf collection for unincorporated areas.
